So I don’t know about you but my silly season was, well, silly. Too much booze, too much food, not enough movement. I needed to reel it in and get back on track because my guts were all messed up, therefore my sleep was all messed up and of COURSE my mood was basically just $hitty. I was impatient, forgetful & just generally irritated because guess what, seratonin, our ‘make me happy’ neurotransmitter is produced mainly in our gut so when your gut is trashed it’s no wonder the mood takes a dive too.
I’ve been taking lots of steps to sort my gut back out and it’s amazing how quickly I started to feel good again! Firstly, I ditched the booze for a while. Next, I started to incorporate all the fabulous gut healing things like broth, aloe water, kombucha, kefir, fermented veggies as well as lots of great pre-biotic foods as well. Then, I made sure I incorporated LOTS of nutrient rich foods to help my body gently detox from the $shit-show that was the Festive Season. You can learn all about gut health and ways to support and heal your own at the Happy Belly Workshops I run with Sofie from Heal Your Gut and our Detox with Food Workshops are a great place to learn how to use the right foods to get your body back on track.
So, Australia Day. More celebrations. Here’s some delicious recipes to make sure your tummy is satisfied but you’re guts aren’t trashed.
