So, I have had a few mums ask for nut-free recipes they can pack in the kids school lunches. Any recipe that I use nuts in you can generally substitute for dried fruit (cranberries, raisins, figs, dates, apricots- just look for the preservative free variety) or if I am using the nuts like a flour (almond or hazelnut meal) you could substitute this for oatmeal, spelt flour or wholemeal flour. It won’t taste exactly the same but it will be pretty close. Notice I did not suggest white flour, white flour turns into kindergarten grade glue and seriously, who wants that in their guts?
